This trek climbs steeply from the road head at Dotery, 2700 m, for three days to reach the Sandakphu –Phalut ridge at an altitude of 3600 m. Passing through the lovely forests of the Singelila National Park, it take in the spectacular sunrise view from Tonglu ridge, and the breathtaking views of the Khandchendzonga Range , the peaks of the Mount Everest group , and also views of Chola Range with the passes leading into Tibet.
The trek from Sandakphu to Phalut is along the undulating 3500 m high ridge passing through meadows, forests full of wild flowers and Himalayan flora, with the mighty peaks towering in the background. The descent to the road head at Rimbik through the Rammam River Valley, with its gurgling streams and diverse flowering flora is a visual delight.
The knee wobbling descent to the road head at Rimbik is through forests with flora, flowers and mountain streams.
There are 3 versions of this trek
- Standard version: 05 days trek.
- Version 01: Designed for trekkers in a hurry. The 4 day version is suitable for fit and experienced trekkers.
- Version 02: 03 days trek is for trekkers in a tearing hurry. They must however be experienced and fit, willing to take up a challenge and aware of risks involve in relation to high altitude health hazards.
All trek tours starts and ends at Darjeeling . Pick up from Bagdogra, Kalimpong or locations in Sikkim can be arranged with overnight stop at Dotery, on request.
